Drama, Open ADA1OI

Learn to act for theatre and film! If you prefer learning on your feet, then this course is for you. In this hands-on class, you will create and perform a variety of plays and skits. Have fun learning new improvisation games, creating infomercial parodies, trying out different costumes and masks, discover new scriptwriting techniques, and improve your use of voice and movement!

Dance, Open – Intro. to Dance ATC1OI

No experience necessary! This studio-based course is open to all levels of dancers. If you have never danced before, come learn the steps and skills of many different dance styles. Dancers with experience will get a chance to focus on perfecting your foundations while challenging yourself to create your own choreography. Enjoy learning new techniques in hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, modern, tap and world dance.

Drama, Open – Intermediate Acting ADA2OI

Continue to build on your acting skills in this hands-on course. Join in with laughter and applause when creating commercial parodies, channel your inner child with puppet theatre and shadow plays, challenge yourself with new improv quirks, learn how to use lighting and special effects to enhance your scenes, and learn the tricks of writing different genres! This section is for students who have taken grade 9 drama or have previous acting experience. If you are a new actor, please take ADA2OX.
COURSE NOTE: ADA1O1 highly recommended, those without acting experience should take ADA2OX

This hands-on course explores a wide variety of exciting acting techniques from various eras and cultures. Take your acting and directing to the next level by experiencing styles such as Melodrama, Commedia dell A’rte, Avante Garde Theatre, Epic Theatre, and Improvisation. For the final exam, the class will work together to create and perform a one-act play for an evening audience!

U/C – Dance – Dance Technique and Choreography ATC3MI

In this studio-based course, you will focus on improving your dance technique through centre work, down the room exercises and combos. You will also learn many new exciting techniques for creating your own choreography. Each unit will focus on a different dance style.

This hands-on course explores a wide variety of exciting acting techniques from various eras and cultures. For the final exam, the class will work together to create and perform a one-act play for an evening audience!

U/C – Drama – Production, Technical Theatre ADD4MI

Experience the behind the scenes magic! Put on a play! This hands-on course focuses on the technical aspects of theatrical production. You will learn the skills of design, creation and operation of all backstage elements. Program moving lights and special effects, experience mixing live audio, learn special effect stage makeup, design and build set pieces, make your own costume. For the final exam, you will take on the role of technician, designer, or actor to produce your own one act play night for an evening audience.

U/C – Dance – Dance Technique and Choreography ATC4MI

This studio based course builds on the skills and techniques of dance and choreography from grade 11. In addition to centre work, down the room, and choreography creation, you will also learn skills and techniques for teaching dance. This is a great experience for any dancer interested in teaching or running their own studio! This course will also provide a strong foundation for any dancer interested in pursuing a career in dance, choreography, or musical theatre. Each unit will focus on a different dance style.
