As a pianist volunteer, you will provide piano prelude and hymn accompaniment music for Roman Catholic Mass held twice a month Must have experience playing for an audience or congregation.

Adapted Aquatics

[Ages 14+]

As an Adapted Aquatics volunteer, you will have an impact on an individual with a disability and their families for whom a traditional swimming lesson may not be appropriate.

Under the guidance of an Adapted Aquatics Instructor, you will provide one-on-one support to children and adults with a disability by instructing and overseeing the swimming progression.  Volunteers must be able to complete a swim test to demonstrate comfort in the water by swimming on your front for 20 metres in the designated swim test area of the pool.

Tutor

[Ages 16+]

The newcomer educational support program is run by United for Literacy (formerly Frontier College) in partnership with the Somali Canadian Association of Waterloo Region (SCAWR). The evening homework club was developed to address the needs of newcomers and refugees from East Africa in Waterloo Region. The focus of the program is to provide academic support to students in grades 3 – 12.

This volunteer position is currently accepting applications for the winter 2024 session at Hillside Public School, 11 Chopin Drive, Kitchener. The winter 2024 SCAWR homework club program runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm.

Volunteers can tutor both or one night/week!
