Community (Graduate) AWARDS

(to be presented at June's Graduation Ceremony)

Each award has its own unique criteria. If you choose to submit a name for consideration, please use the application form indicating why you feel this person is a suitable candidate for the award.

Students can self-advocate for

Community awards.

Aramark Award
for the student who contributes significantly to the Food Services Industry in the Resurrection School Community $250

The Bishop’s Award & Scholarship
For a graduate who reflects Catholic values and has achieved excellence in Religious Studies

The Janice Hopp Memorial Scholarship
to a graduate who works tirelessly behind te scenes without any expectation of recognition in order to make our community a better place. $500
Sharp Bus Lines Scholarship Award
To a graduate who will be furthering their education and experience in the field of the skilled trades. $450.0
Lieutenant-Governor’s Community Service Award
In recognition of exemplary student involvement in the community

Community involvement, leadership & citizenship

Student who has demonstrated exceptional effort and academic improvement (Applied Level program)

The Congregation of the Resurrection Bursary
To a student whose first language is not English & who showed great improvement in the final year of high school
The Michael Schmitt Phoenix Award(s)
To a graduate(s) who succeed in the face of adversity & are in financial need
(may be given to one or more students)
The Resurrection C.S.S. Mission Award of Excellence
For demonstrated commitment to the ideals associated with the school’s mission: Learning, Growing & Building

The McCarthy Scholarship
For significant contribution to the quality of student life and whose character and accomplishments exemplify the mission of the school

Memorial Scholarship

To a student pursuing education at a post secondary institution who demonstrates leadership both inside and outside of the classroom and a wide diversity of talents and interests.

The Waterloo Catholic Schools Foundation has recently established the ‘Awards of Distinction’
program honouring Catholic secondary school graduates who demonstrated exemplary
performance in one or more of the award categories through academic achievement and
participation in extra-curricular school activities.

SHSM Excellence Award To a graduating student from each Secondary School who has demonstrated motivation and change and has grown both personally and academically as a result of their involvement in the SHSM programs.

John Sweeney Award
Essay submitted to board by student. Only 1 high school student in the board receives the award
The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation
Students apply in the previous fall and if chosen, go through an interview process from which the final recipient is chosen
The Luke Santi Memorial Scholarship
Well Respected Graduate pursuing post secondary studies who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, commitment to athletics and school involvement

The Brendan Dixon Legacy Award
This award will assist a Grade 12 graduating student from Resurrection CSS, Kitchener, who requires financial support to pursue their dream of a post-secondary education in creative writing, visual arts, or performing arts, at a recognized Canadian university, college or institute. On occasion, applicants will also be considered who are pursuing guided, but non-traditional, paths.

Governor-General's Medal for Proficiency and Citizenship

To the student with the highest academic standing in the graduating class.
Medal + $500 ($300 donated by Student Council and $200 donated by the Board's Community Foundation)
The Millenium Scholarships
National, provincial and local level – money is sent to the student’s post-secondary institution of choice
from $4,000 - $20,000 
The Dr. B. Mabel Dunham Award
A female secondary school student who has attained the highest average of six university entry courses
$150 + book
The Brother Clifford Bringleson Scholarship For excellence in business and commerce $100
The Resurrection Music Scholarship For outstanding achievement in and contribution to the RCSS music program $150
The Edna Havilland Award
For the young woman with the highest standing in university-entry chemistry
$150 + book
The Valedictorian Plaque
Awarded to the class valedictorian
Plaque + Gift
The Robert Fitzpatrick Memorial Scholarship
For excellence in Mathematics
